How do air purifiers work?

The magic of air purifiers lies in the filter and some of the extra bells and whistles.

The fan in the unit pulls air through the filter, which captures dust, germs, and gases from the air before releasing the air back into the room.

What is ionization

Air molecules pass through an ionization field in the air purifier and get negatively charged. They are released back into the air and attach themselves to other particles(dust, germs, etc). Making them larger and easier for the filter to trap. Think of it like static, if you rub a balloon it will pick up hair and other debris from the floor.

Can air purifiers remove dust?

Air purifiers can filter dust out of the air into the filter. That being said, it isn't an robot vacuum. It won't take care of dust that has already settled on a surface. But once you have an air purifier going, you should start to see an improvement on how much dust you have settling on surfaces.

Can air purifiers kill viruses?

A basic air purifier won't kill viruses, but still have a chance to catch them. Viruses are extremely small and can slip through the air filter, but because they don't go in a straight line the filter may still catch them.

For added protection against viruses, the air purifiers need things like UV disinfection or an antibacterial skeleton on the filter. Our VP-300-WI also comes equipped with an ionizer that charges the air particles so that they will cling to other particles for their next time through the air purifier. This makes the particles bigger and easier for the filter to catch.

Can air purifiers help with allergies?

Air purifiers can help provide allergy relief in your home by catching pollen, pet dander, and other allergy inducing particles.
